Rockingham qualifying: Hancock 4th, Quaife 7th

Qualifying

After their impressive pace in practice on Friday, both Sam Hancock and Phil Quaife were left slightly frustrated to qualify on the second and fourth rows for Sunday’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB races at Rockingham.

Half a second covered the top five, with Hancock taking fourth on the grid for race 1 behind pole sitter Tim Bridgman, veteran Tim Harvey and championship leader Michael Caine.

Quaife was seventh behind his team-mate, single-seater graduate Dean Smith and Team Parker Racing’s Charles Bateman.

Race 2 grid positions are taken from each driver’s second fastest time of the session and while the top three remain the same, Smith was marginally faster than Hancock to take fourth, with Sam to start fifth and Quaife again in seventh.

Sunday’s races take place at 10am and 2.40pm, with race 2 to appear live on ITV4.
