Hancock 4th, Quaife 6th in Race 1

Sam Hancock claimed fourth place overall and a class podium, while Phil Quaife took sixth and more solid points in Race 1 of the weekend at Croft.

Hancock, who started fifth, made a good start and leapfrogged his team mate on the first lap. He chased Tim Harvey in third throughout the remainder of the race, posting similar lap times to the quickest man on the circuit, but settled for fourth, just a few seconds behind and only five seconds off race winner Tim Bridgman. He did however claim 16 points for a third placed finish as Stefan Hodgetts, who took second overall, was in the Porsche VIP car and therefore not eligible to score.

Quaife lost two places at the start, to his team mate and Michael Caine, but fought hard with the championship leader in the opening stages before dropping back and settling for sixth. He added a useful 12 points to his championship total.

Bridgman took the win from Hodgetts and Harvey. Caine remains in the lead of the championship, with Hancock fourth and Quaife fifth overall.

For Sunday's second race, Hancock starts third and Quaife fifth.
