4th and 5th on grid for Jota Sport at Croft

Jota Sport will start Race 1 of this weekend’s Porsche Carrera Cup GB double-header at Croft from fourth and fifth on the grid after a closely fought qualifying session at the North Yorkshire circuit.

Phil Quaife’s best time of 1:22.638, set on his final flying lap, was just four tenths from poleman Tim Harvey’s best, and good enough for fourth, with Sam Hancock just five hundredths slower in fifth with a 1:22.685. Hancock only used one set of new tyres in qualifying, making the decision to save his second set for the race as track conditions slowed during the session.

Tim Harvey took pole position for Red Line Racing with a 1:22.210, with Tim Bridgman second with a 1:22.397. Guest driver Stefan Hodgetts, lines up third while championship leader Michael Caine is in sixth.

Each driver’s second quickest time dictates the grid for Sunday’s Race 2 and, while the front row remains the same, Hancock’s 1:22.703s elevates him to third ahead of Quaife and Hodgetts. Phil’s second best effort, a 1:22.894, leaves him fifth.
