Phil Quaife took fourth overall and a class podium in race 2 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Croft, but Jota Sport team mate Sam Hancock ended eighth during a chaotic race.

With torrential rain falling all day, the race was threatened with cancelation at one point before the decision was taken to start.

However, a drying line was forming and on the formation lap, pole sitter Tim Harvey slowed right down, seemingly with a problem, allowing second place Tim Bridgman and third place Hancock to pass.

Harvey, along with a number of other drivers, then dived into the pitlane to change to slicks with Hancock and Bridgman on wets. With several cars starting from the pitlane, Bridgman led Hancock in the early stages, but were both soon off the pace of the slick shod runners.

With the drivers on slicks ten seconds per lap quicker than those on wets, Sam took the decision to pit, dropping to the back of the field. He fought back to eighth, albeit a lap down.

Quaife meanwhile was one of those to pit for slicks after the warm up lap. Running ninth at the end of the first lap, Phil rapidly climbed the field, passing Tommy Dreelan, Bob Lyons, Tony Gilham, team mate Hancock and Bridgman over the next few tours to take fourth at the chequered flag.

With guest driver Stefan Hodgetts taking the victory, but not eliginle for points, Quaife collected 16 points and a Pro category podium.
