Jota Sport and Sam Hancock will make their Porsche Mobil1 Supercup debut at Magny Cours this weekend (21/22 June) during the French Grand Prix meeting.

Hancock will take advantage of the mid-season break in the Carrera Cup schedule to step up to the Grand Prix support series. He will then resume his Carrera Cup campaign at Snetterton on 12/13 July.

Hancock is currently fourth in the Carrera Cup points’ table with Jota Sport and will race under the wing of the ToLimit team, working with some of the same race engineering squad. Jota Sport has ambitions towards a dual campaign in 2009, with teams in both the Carrera Cup GB and Supercup.

"I don’t underestimate the Supercup in any way," said Hancock, who will be backed by Technojobs. "But we can dip a toe in the water this year and get some of the learning done, and we hope to hit the ground running."

Hancock will not need to learn the track as he has raced at Magny Cours previously. "I know the circuit very well from racing there in sports-prototypes, but I expect it will be very different in the Supercup."
