Sam Hancock took his first pole position of the season and Jota Sport's first-ever in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB by just four-hundredths of a second at Snetterton.

Hancock's best time of 1:08.126s just edged out Charles Bateman for the top spot at the high-speed circuit and means Sam will start Sunday's race 1 from the front of the championship's biggest grid of the season so far.

Phil Quaife meanwhile was one of several leading drivers to lose time on his best flying laps due to traffic. His fastest lap of 1:09.026s was good enough for a strong seventh on the 18-car grid, slightly frustrating for the Kent-based driver who had showed excellent pace in Friday practice by posting the second quickest time.

Serious debutante Jake Rosenzweig will line up third behind Hancock and Batemand, with Hancock and Quaife's main championship rivals Tim Harvey, Tim Bridgman and Michael Caine fourth, fifth and sixth.

With less than one tenth of a second covering the top four, the grid for race 2, which is decided by each driver's second fastest time, has a slightly different look about it as fractions of a second made the difference.

Harvey starts on pole, with the impressive Rosenzweig second, while Hancock starts from the outside of row 2 alongside Tim Bridgman. Quaife starts eighth.
