Jota Sport’s Sam Hancock has taken pole position for Sunday’s two Porsche Carrera Cup GB races at Knockhill in today’s qualifying session.

Hancock’s best time of 50.957s edged out Tim Bridgman by just a hundredth of a second to take a race 1 pole at the Scottish circuit which saw the London-based driver take his first ever Carrera Cup victory last season.

Sam will also start on pole position for race 2. His second best time of 51.004 beating Michael Caine to the top grid slot by two hundredths of a second.

Jota Sport team-mate Phil Quaife also enjoyed a strong qualifying performance and will start both races from the second row of the grid. His best time of 50.990s was just four hundredths slower than Hancock’s, but left him fourth, while his second best time of 51.053s will see him start race 2 from third.

With just seven tenths of a second covering the top nine cars in qualifying, both of Sunday’s races look set to be hotly contested, but both drivers will be desperate to secure vital points for the teams’ and drivers’ championships by fighting it out for victories.

Hancock said: "Overnight we made some changes to the car to dial out a little bit of understeer and now it's absolutely spot on. The team have a done a fantastic job and we look like we're in good shape for the races tomorrow."

Quaife said: "I'm really happy with the way things went. I posted the fastest sector times in both sectors one and two and am just a tenth off in sector three. The top four or five cars are incredibly close and it should make for some fantastic racing on Sunday."
