Podium for Hancock as Quaife claims 5th

Jota Sport's Sam Hancock claimed a podium and team-mate Phil Quaife grabbed fifth in race 1 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB season finale at Brands Hatch.

While title contenders Tim Harvey and Michael Caine slugged it out at the front, Hancock took third, just 2.5 seconds behind, to claim yet another podium and increase his lead over Tim Bridgman in the race for third in the title standings.

Poleman Bridgman didn't feature at all in the race having suffered a driveshaft failure on his installation lap, immediately promoting Hancock to second. However, a blazing start from fourth-placed Caine saw the Team Parker Racing driver jump Sam by the end of the first lap. In a race which saw little overtaking amongst the leaders, Sam chased the battle between Caine and Harvey throughout the race, but was unable to get close enough to pass and settled for third.

Quaife was promoted to fourth in the early stages after Bridgman's problem. He fought to defende from American Jake Rosenzweig in the early stages, but lost out on lap three as the youngster dived past. He settled for a comfortable fifth to close within a handful of points of Bridgman in the title standings where he know hopes to grab fourth place.
