Last year 170,000 spectators watched Porsche Carrera Cup GB races live at the circuit , whilst many thousands more viewed the action on TV. The championship will enjoy an extensive television package in 2008, with programmes on both the 'Motorsport UK' series on ITV4 and on the 'Men and Motors' satellite channel.
Building on the success of the 2007 Motorsport UK series, the Carrera Cup will feature prominently in a new 32-week run of the half-hour programme on ITV4, starting in April. The programme will be shown twice each week on ITV4 and then run twice on Men and Motors, giving each programme a total of two hours screen time.
The TV package for the Carrera Cup works hand-in-hand with the excellent TV arrangements for the BTCC, which will feature extensive coverage on ITV4 during a five-hour live programme on most of the season's ten race days. Whilst this coverage will obviously focus on the BTCC races, some of the support race action is likely to feature within this major broadcast.
ITV4 now broadcasts to around 90 per cent of the UK’s households via freeview digital, cable, and satellite signals – and is home to many of ITV’s top sporting events including UEFA Champions League, UEFA Cup, boxing and the Tour de France.
