Jota Sport has been formed as a new division of highly established and successful British sportscar racing outfit, Team Jota.
The Kent-based squad adds to its Le Mans programme this year to contest a full season of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB as well as selected rounds of the Mobil 1 Porsche Supercup, ahead of a full-season graduation to the Formula One-support series in 2009.
Jota was created in 2000 by materials engineer and racing driver Sam Hignett and successful businessman John Stack and has enjoyed a period of rapid growth and expansion throughout the past eight years.
The team have built an impressive record in sportscars, running works' programmes for Zytek in both the American and European-based Le Mans Series' and at the Le Mans 24 Hours. They boast podiums in the LMP1 and LMP2 divisions of both championships and will again race at La Sarthe and in the LMS in 2008, alongside its Carrera Cup GB campaign.
They have worked with drivers of the calibre of ex-Formula One racers Stefan Johansson, Jan Lammers and Alex Yoong and sportscar stars Stefan Mucke, Sam Hancock, John Nielsen and Casper Elgaard.
