Former Le Mans Series LMP2 champion Sam Hancock embarks on his second season of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB having enjoyed an impressive debut in 2007. The 28-year old finished 5th overall in the championship, scored a maiden victory at Knockhill and took three pole positions.

Sam began his career in karting, scoring multiple victories throughout the UK. His first foray into the world of car racing saw him finish 3rd in class in the 1996 Formula Vauxhall Junior Winter Series, with a full season in the summer championship in 1997 reaping his first podium and ninth overall.

His single seater career continued in Formula Palmer Audi, the Dodge Barber Pro Series in the USA and saw a handful of outings in the FIA F3000 Championship.

2004 saw Hancock commit permanently to sportscars and immediately reap the benefits with his first-ever championship title. As a works driver with Courage Competition in the LMP2 division of the Le Mans Endurance Series, Hancock took victory at Spa, Silverstone and the Nurburgring to clinch the title with team mate Alexander Frei. His LMS career continued after being snapped up by Binnie Motorsports in '05 & '06, scoring several more podiums. He has also raced at the Le Mans 24 Hours on 4 occasions.

2007 brought a change of direction for Hancock's career as he returned to the domestic scene in the Carrera Cup GB. In a highly competitive field, his performances as a rookie leave him well placed to be a title contender this season.
